The Cabbage Soup Diet
This low-fat, high-fibre diet helps you to lose weight quickly. Eating as much cabbage soup and drinking as much water you like but not much else. This is not recommended as a long term plan, and should definitely not be used as one. You cannot consume nearly enough calories nor get the necessary nutrients for a healthy immune system using this programme.
The Grapefruit Diet
This diet is based on an alleged “magical” ingredient in grapefruits, that when eaten with protein, actually triggers fat burning and causes the body to lose weight. This usually doesn’t work, as the weight you lose is primarily fluids and not fat, therefore the fat generally piles back on as soon as you finish the diet.
South Beach Diet
This diet claims that you can lose 13lb in just two weeks. It is a low-carb, low-fat diet and is very popular at the moment in America. The extreme carbohydrate restriction in the first two weeks requires serious willpower and may leave you feeling weak and unstable. Cutting out carbohydrates mean that you are stopping all good sources of fibre, vitamins and minerals entering your body.
1000 Calorie Diet Menu
Basically this diet is a 1000 Calorie per day diet. It is a very drastic plan as the normal amount of calorie intake a day for a woman is 2000, and for a man 2500. It is not recommended for more than a week. On a diet of just 1000 calories a day your body will be convinced it’s in the middle of a famine. Therefore, the body will want to slow down and hold on to every calorie it can for as long as possible. It is not a healthy way to lose weight.
All these diets may seem good at first, but once you look in to them you quickly realise that they are not a suitable way to lose weight. You should never carry out one of these diets for no longer than 3 to 7 days as they are not suitable for extended periods of time. They are not balanced diets, and are not meant for permanent eating.
Remember to not over exert yourself. While you may feel fine, over exercising may make you feel weak and can be very stressful on your body.
Who wants to sit in a restaurant with friends and eat a piece of grapefruit? Seriously, these diets do not consider your social life. You should be able to lose weight in a controlled way and not have the misery of going without.
